Daily Buzz: Kim Cattrall Refuses to Pose With Cougar on Magazine Cover
In a recent interview, Kim Cattrall (Samantha from Sex in the City for those not in the know) revealed she had refused to pose with a cougar on a magazine for women over 40 and consequently had the cover taken away.
“I think that cougar has a negative connotation and I don’t see anything negative about sexuality and sensuality and choice,” Cattrall said. “And I think that’s something that people who are afraid of a strong woman have labeled [Samantha].”
At first, I thought the term cougar was mildly amusing. But similar to when a child repeats a joke over and over until it loses all its charm, the term “cougar” has soured.
Labeling women past a certain age as sexual predators because they have an active sex life is basically telling women that unless you are young sex objects, you don’t have a right to sex.
I am 28 years old, and I’m already feeling the pressure. Not that I am old, but that I’m getting there or that I don’t have much more time before I will become obsolete. I’m “no spring chicken anymore,” I’ve been told. READ THE REST, INCLUDING THE PART ABOUT THE BOOK, AT WOMANSDAY.COM
