WENDY WROTE: I was at Urgent care this morning since I’d cut my finger pretty bad on a knife at home. The doctor I saw was young…maybe 5 or 6 years older than my oldest son…. and very cute. He pointed out 3 times that I was 40 and needed to be more careful and would probably need a tetanus shot more often than every 10 years,(and proceeded to give me one since I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had one) oh and since I was 40 I wouldn’t heal as fast as I would if I was 20. He even circled 40 on my chart. Twice!
I finally said “do you really need to keep pointing out that I’m 40…it’s not like I’m 80 or something” He then said “well, you do have to keep in mind these things now that you’re getting older”. Talk about depressing….and believe it or not I feel better at 40 than I did at 20… so what’s the big deal? Isn’t 40 supposed to be the new 30 isn’t it?????

OH, don’t you just HATE that?! I work in a “cube farm” and I heard the guys on the other side of the wall talking about a 40th birthday coming up. One said, “Oh, 40 not’s old. You won’t really be old until you’re about 50.” ARGH!! (I’m 50.) I didn’t bother to speak up in case they don’t know I’m 50! 🙂
